I've been short Tweeter Home Entertainment Group since 1/03/05, and it's been a wild ride for a clear, going-to-zero short. My experience with TWTR led me to begin studying the fascinating world of hedge funds, as SAC Capital periodically took big stakes in a very small company and successfully jerked the price around.

Despite the ups and downs, it's been a very successful short, and pre-market today TWTR is down another 30% on a big Q1 loss:

Looks like the retail sector isn't doing too hot. (Now that the market has opened, TWTR is down 51%.)

Tweeter Home Entertainment Group to Restructure Operations Under Chapter 11
Monday June 11, 2:00 pm ET
-- Secures $60 Million in DIP Financing
-- Stores will remain open for business as usual
-- Will fund operations, including employee salaries and benefits, and post-petition vendor payments during reorganization process

They were a consistent money loser in good economic times. The worsening condition of the consumer probably sped up the inevitable.
